Meet the honorable Jay Harrison Knight, better known as Judge Jay Knight, the head of the Commissioner’s and County Court in Liberty County.
Judge Jay Knight from Liberty County has played a crucial role in opening the door for John Harris and his brother, William Trey Harris, to develop and sell lands that flood unsuspecting immigrants through predatory advertising and sleazy sales tactics with their company, Colony Ridge, and their advertising name, Terrenos Houston.
Believe it or not, flooding is only one aspect of the problems faced by these lands in Cleveland, Texas (Plum Grove). The place is rampant with raw sewage, hundreds of stray animals, and trash, even though the residents are forced to pay a Property Owners Association (POA) fee, also headed by the Harris family.
Since January 20, 2023, Liberty County Judge Jay Knight has been the new chair-elect for the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) after a unanimous vote. Unanimous? Well, they must not know as much about him as they think, because behind those blue eyes, white hair, and apparently common chuckle, there’s a dark history that we cannot deny. Let’s take a closer look at it. “You will know them by their fruit.”
Liberty County was recently awarded a $21.3 million grant
According to Bluebonnet News, Liberty County was recently awarded a $21.3 million grant through H-GAC, by way of FEMA, to fund a drainage study and drainage plan for the entire county. Once the drainage plan is adopted by the commissioners’ court, developers doing business in Liberty County will have to adhere to those rules.
“This puts the responsibility of creating appropriate drainage systems on the developers and not the County or its taxpayers. Our goal with this is to not have another taxing entity involved. The developers are the ones reaping the benefits of their developments, so they should be the ones to pay for the drainage systems,” Knight said.
Wow, “how noble,” you might think. A real-life Robin Hood. Except, considering the fact that he has been instrumental at every step in allowing John and William “Trey” Harris to develop acre after acre of flooding land that knowingly has poor drainage and sewage systems, putting more than 30,000 families at risk. Considering that the neighboring city of Plum Grove has desperately pleaded for years to stop these developers. Also, considering there is actual footage of the investigative reporter Dwayne Dolcefino speaking in Judge Jay Knight’s court and handing him a USB with thousands of pages of ecological damage happening as Colony Ridge’s Terrenos Houston keeps getting approved for development. There is also footage of Jay H. Knight voting in favor of platting more land as if he had heard nothing.
No, Sir, Jay Harrison Knight, you don’t get to play “the good guy.” You are a reversed Robin Hood. The kind who says, “I was just doing my job,” while watching everything being taken from the people in your county at the hands of John and William Harris III’s (aka Trey Harris) Colony Ridge.
