Where is John Harris?
We need him to answer to allegations of shoddy conditions at his developments including: dirt roads, lack of water and sewage, confusing and unethical financing and business practices, expanding cartels moving into the communities.
Take, for instance, Kings Colony, one of John Harris’ developments.
According to media reports, this is where people like Reina Sanchez and her husband live in a three-room house, built from the frame of a utility shed with plywood, tar paper, concrete blocks and other discarded materials. This is happening in the United States. Right here near Houston, Texas, according to the story in the Longview News Journal, which wrote:
Their home is beyond the reach of a municipal water system, and the couple cannot afford a well or septic tank. So they use two 250-gallon plastic totes to capture and hold rainwater for drinking, bathing and washing dishes. An outhouse stands beneath a shade tree in the yard. Around their half-acre lot in east Montgomery County, there are no sewers, sidewalks, streetlights, parks or fully paved roads. The streets have so many potholes that those driving school buses, delivery trucks and even ambulances won't go down them. – The Longview News Journal.
Sounds like hell on earth, right?
Kings Colony is the development of John Harris, who now heads the community’s property owners association. He’s also the owner Colony Ridge Land due to the fact that his company owns the most lots in the subdivision. Existing lawsuits allege fraud, claiming Harris doubled the fees in 2012 and "simply pocketed" the revenues because there is nothing to maintain, according to the Longview article.
Kings Colony was, in fact, created in 1980 by a developer who gave the streets names like Essex, Huntingshire, and Yorkshire. Sounds fancy, right? Well, in fact he was unable to complete the project. Today, the area is simply filled with slums.
One concerned citizen puts it like this: “Montgomery County should be ASHAMED of itself for not upkeeping those roads! I can't and won't go back there again. I tore my truck up on those roads today. The holes are over a foot deep in places. The pavement is washed out, other roads are nothing but sandy dirt. The is NO EXCUSE for our county not taking over those roads like every other subdivision. It looks like a Third World country back there - I kid you not.”
The issue at King’s Colony has been covered recently on KPRC and KHOU. Citizens want developer owner Harris to take responsibility for the mess he’s created that has cost homeowners and residents tens of thousands of dollars and forced them to live a hellish existence befitting a Third World country. They also want Montgomery County Commissioners Court to step in and help these residents who should have the decency and rights afforded other U.S. citizens.
“We wrote a series of reports on both King's Colony and other subdivisions in Liberty County back in April of this year and even our own representatives did not respond,” says another concerned citizen. “We know they read the series and it fell on deaf ears. We are going to release the series again starting tomorrow.”
If your friends were kept up all night long by gunshots, cock fights, drunk, unlicensed drivers crashing into their yards, loud music, sewage running into ditches, and farm animals wandering into their yards you would understand. If stray bullets were hitting your children, your cars, your homes, you would understand. If a young person was MURDERED right around the corner from your home, you would understand. There are issues with drugs and human trafficking in our area now. While all this may be normal behavior elsewhere this is not acceptable in the United States.
Again, we ask: Where is John Harris? Help us find him and help us hold him accountable for what is happening in this community.
As a community, it's time we step up and say enough is enough. Mass and rapid expansion of the area has affected many lives in a very negative way. Among the many issues:
- Traffic is horrendous on FM 1485 which is the road people have to travel daily.
- What used to take a short 10-15 minutes now takes HOURS for people to get home from town.
- Drivers with no license or insurance are a common theme so if you have an accident with one of them, most likely you will suffer the loss at 100%.
- The waters are possibly contaminated with sewage or other materials from the ditches and creeks running into the East Fork San Jacinto River.
- Soil runoff has created a horrible mess at the mouth of the East San Jacinto River and Lake Houston.
- Sex crimes by illegal aliens are on the rise which causes fear and anxiety among law abiding citizens.
- DWI arrests are at an all-time high in the area.
Again we ask: Where is John Harris?
Help us find John Harris and hold him accountable for these issues and conditions and many of the other issues posted on our main page, which have caused thousands of families, many of them immigrants, to band together to take action against Terrenos Houston and Colony Ridge (enterprises under Harris) for what they say are numerous crimes that involve defrauding families out of millions of dollars, poor sanitation and roads, taking advantage of the elderly, taking advantage of immigrant populations and many other crimes and improprieties.
Here is a list of allegations against Harris:
- Misleading advertisement
- Nondisclosure of flooding
- Many claims that payments being made to this company keep disappearing
“This company is taking advantage of immigrants. The neighborhoods look like Third World Countries and they are offering 100-year leases. Who does that? Crooks, that’s who,” says one homeowner.
An open letter by the citizens group has attracted thousands of individuals who they say have suffered damages and been the targets of other crimes by the real estate company after buying from Terrenos Houston and Colony Ridge. The group continues to be flooded with new stories each day from those who have lost money to this group due to false foreclosures and falsely inflated interest rates, among many other crimes.
“We know there are many people who have gone to Terrenos Houston with the idea of having a new home in Texas. They've instead encountered land that floods and even their payments disappearing. There are many many victims of this company and now we are coming together to do something, regain our assets and take legal action. We want people to know THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY VICTIMS. In fact this company has many lawsuits against them. They have a long history of abuse against their clients and their lack of proper sewage management is wreaking havoc on the communities around the grounds,” according to the group.
Again we ask: Where is John Harris?
Can’t read it
Here it is in English: https://www.terrenoshoustondemanda.com/en/where-is-john-harris/.
Si son demasiados cosas demsiadas la unica esperanza para muchos son gente como ustedes, gente que sabe como ayudar y lidear con este tipo de empresas q se hacen ricos a costillas de nosotros los pobres.
This development company has trashed what used to be a nice, quiet community, with complete disregard to the local residents. Many of these properties were purchased from people who owned the land but lived out of state for just hundreds of dollars. I know this because I received an offer to by my vacant lots in the area for $800 each. They in turn finance these for $30,000 at a high interest rate, and seem to gravitate toward marketing to illegals.
We now suffer from a huge increase in crime- our quality of life we once enjoyed is gone. Gunshots ring out through the night, music goes on until 6am sometimes, the ditches are littered with trash and beer cans. We have graffiti, gang activity, drugs on the streets, and property crimes steadily increasing.
We can no longer let our kids play outside for fear of them being kidnapped.
Houses in these slums are pieced together, have yards full of trash, and some have even discharged sewage directly into the local ditches. The city of Splendora issued over 1,100 tickets for no driver license and no insurance in less than a year.
The local infrastructure is now in poor condition. This company appears to have created an underground railroad for illegal immigration, all while taking monetary advantage of them.
This company’s owners need to be investigated for aiding and abetting criminal activity- because it appears to be exactly what they are doing.
Get these scumbags out of our community.
